History of Phra Phong Chakkraphat พระผงจักรพรรดิ พระผงกัมมัฏฐาน

The Phra Phong Chakkraphat (Thai: พระผงจักรพรรดิ) (Trans. amulet made from Chakkraphat powder) or also known as Phra Phong Kammathan (Thai: พระผงกัมมัฏฐาน) (Trans. amulet made from meditation powder) is a special concoction of holy materials mixed with white cement. As white cement is widely available, inexpensive, durable and bonds well with other materials – it is the perfect base material for amulets/statues and also for mass production. In addition, the color ‘white’ is highly regarded by the Thais as a color of purity. Until today, the formula is still closely guarded by LP Doo’s disciples and only shared with the privileged few.

(*Chakkraphat powder is a post-product of white cement powder and a few other holy materials. After consecration/blessing, the powder mixture would be known as Chakkraphat powder).

LP Doo taught his disciples to craft Buddha images (amulets) on a regular basis as a way of meditation and practice to be one with the Buddha and his teachings. Amulets were often distributed to disciples as a tool for meditation. Also, LP Doo realized it was far more effective and quick for his disciples to achieve concentration with a sacred object of focus. Yet, there were criticisms – people were worried and wondered if disciples/devotees would end up obsessed with the sacred objects. LP Doo retorted, “It is better for one to be obsessed with a holy, sacred object than for one to be obsessed with an inauspicious material. An amulet serves as a constant reminder of the Buddha and his teachings, and that is not a bad thing”.

“Keep practicing! It’s not difficult! One says difficult because one doesn’t do it. If you have a good intention and faith, you can achieve anything.”

Although LP Doo guaranteed the spiritual power of the amulets he consecrated, he also encouraged/urged everyone to ‘practice, chant and meditate’ as much as they could. Often, devotees from all over the country would visit him to ask for the ‘most sacred’, ‘most valuable’ amulet. However, LP Doo would always reply, “the best amulet is within us, and respect for the Triple Gems is greatly auspicious. When combined, we, ourselves are the best amulet”.

Magical Crystalline Flakes (Not Buddha’s Relics)

A special characteristic of LP Doo’s amulets is crystalline flakes that appear on the surface of the amulet. These flakes should not be mistaken as Buddha’s relics – they are not. The flakes can miraculously increase or decreased in mass. Regardless of the material that was used to make the amulets (powder or metal), the more you use LP Doo’s amulet as a tool for chanting or meditation, the more crystalline flakes will appear and grow (tens and thousands of such phenomenon have been recorded)! This makes LP Doo’s amulets so uniquely different from the rest.

Usage of Phra Phong Chakkraphat

Apart from wearing the Phra Phong Chakkraphat as an amulet, it could also be used to make Chakkraphat holy water for drinking, bathing, blessing (cleanse all negative energies, receive blessings, etc).

“Just a single drop of the Chakkraphat holy water into the largest jar of water or liquid will turn the whole content into Chakkraphat holy water” – LT Ma
